Stephenson College NEWS the whole Blog

This entire blog is my whole project in the 2 weeks

I started doing research into Web videos, Tv Idents and News programs. I use this as inspiration for creating a logo and then making the news.

I then created a logo from my inspiration and develop this logo into 3 logos.

However then I got the official brief which meant I didn't need to do a "dead good logo" or a Tv ident. However the research I did on that and the news covered the research criteria on the brief so I got a headstart.

I mind mapped ideas and did a project proposal. I then converted this into a part done storyboard (Not fully done because I didn't know what news to expect) After this I went hunting, looking for news leads and stories I could manage. I emailed Tim Puffer who is a press manager and he said in return that he will try to help me. Unfortunately he didn't reply back.

I also had a conversation with Peter Clarke who could probably help me. We talked about 3 possible news stories which was recorded with a sound recorder. It was quite helpful.

A week has now gone.

In the weekend I produced the graphics. i.e. the studio, the opening grahics, the closing graphics and the text graphics.

On the monday I came in thinking Im stuffed however when I arrived Dan said loads of people have been contacting him about news and I need to go and get the news.

I recorded 3 news stories and interviewed them with Rico Buccheri's help who was the corrispondent.

I then uploaded it and using a logging sheet I put the relevent bits on Premier.

I then finished my complete storyboard and prepared a planned news which was basically about the police assignment to which Jake Baugh won.

I produced relevant scripts for the studio news and the interview. Unfortunately Rico wasn't available and neither was Simon Shelder so I had to rely on Jake Hadley and Andrew Nicholls.

With Andrew it went well, unfortunately when I uploaded it though their was a glow on the table so I would have to choose whether to hand it in badly or redo the whole studio news with Andrew.

Thankfully Andrew was kind to let me film, their was improvement on the script because the interview on the monday and then tuesday didn't happen due to time and the actors being busy so I abandoned it.

Therefore the script was edited down. We reshot it with Andrew and kyle's help and it was better then last time. I cleaverly got him standing up so that their was no table and therefore no possible glow. It worked like a treat, the chroma key worked better this time. and I positioned Andrew correctly.

With all the sequences put together I did the fine tweaks. In my storyboard their was a picture of the topic so I exported the frame I wanted and put it in the appropiate place.

I went through the whole thing and Dan noticed slight mistakes that I could sort and coundn't sort out due to time.

The things I couldn't do was that Ricko should of said "Back to you Andrew" and I should never zoom in with my camera. These 2 vitals points are something I will definately consider later.

The ones I could were the lip sinc which was out of sinc by seconds anf editing the ends where Ricko ranted on. I sorted them out and after all the minor adjustments I rendered it on a FLV and MPEG2 formats.

I evaluated it and it was fitting the brief because it was between 5 - 7 minutes and the whole collage could benifit from it.

All my progress in this assignment is in my Sketchbook which I handed in on time. This was just a summary.

Thanks for Reading and here's my video. I am proud of it and is probably one of the most successful projects for me so far.
